To Do Once Bub has Arrived

Now that your little bundle of Joy is in your arms there are some things you need to do.thumbnail_fullsizerender

1.Nourish and cherish your body with warm foods and rest. Everything else can wait, allow yourself time to be absent from your “normal” life going on’s for a period of time. Your focus and attention is only required to be on yourself and your baby at this time. Organise arrangements for housework, cooking, pets, other children and work. Allow yourself this time for you and your bub.

2. You will be given a Parent Pack from the midwives, hospital or delivery centre that assisted you in the delivery of your baby, this pack contains a Newborn Child Declaration.

Ensure that the doctor or midwife has completed the Proof of Birth declaration and that you record your Centrelink Reference Number, if known, on the back page.

You will use this declaration to give human services/Centrelink proof of your child’s birth.

To start receiving payments and accessing services from the government you need to:

3. Register your babies birth on the Birth Register – hopefully by now you have decided on a name for your little bundle of Joy as you will need this.

4. Keep your little ones vaccinations and record up to date.

5. Soak up and enjoy your little ones precious moments and milestones – share your stories on our blog. There are some great apps out to record your bubs milestones with photos.

6. NEVER forget how amazing you are and that you are doing a great job! Reach out if you need help, we all need a break at times, you are not failing if you ask for help, its completely the opposite. You are recognising your needs and your babies, most people will stay away and wait to be asked as they don’t want to intrude, so please reach out, there will be people more than willing to help if you need them, even just to share a cool drink with. If not, email me at mybumpbundle@outlook.com
